Default RE: floating gas gauge

I have a issue that is similar. When my 2001 5.3 Z71 is totally full on gas it will drop totally empty and the gas light comes on. Then if I put into drive or hit a bump it comes back to full. It only happens when it is full. Strange,

Might be easier and cheaper to get a whole sending unit. should be one piece. find part number and comparable models used. might get ebay or junk yard

fuel pump is the "sender" unit. it is located inside the fuel tank . that is where the float that measures your fuel level is attached.
