1997 GMC 1500 5.7 4l60e 141,000 miles

The first of trouble is when I started up my truck, there was no tach, no speedometer, and the truck would only start, and stay in 2nd gear and reverse. I bought a code reader, and made it home. After getting home I truned off the truck, let it sit for about 45 minutes and started it up and the tach, speedo worked, as did the transmission (statred out in first).

Here are the codes:

P0740
P0753
P0758
P1860
P0740

Should I rely on driving my truck as I drive 60 some miles to and from work if this is a hiccup?

PO740-Torque converter clutch enable solenoid circuit

PO753-1-2 shift solenoid circuit

PO758-2-3 shift solenoid circuit

This ain't no hiccup, dude, check your tranny fuel level, check your fuses, and see into having the transmission looked at if it's not something simple causing your shift solenoids in your tranny to stick like this.

Thanks for the reply. I'm starting to hear that the ignition switch is probably the source issue....weird enough...

Nah, that actually makes a lot of sense to me, I had an F150 which caused me no end of grief over the ignition switch being out of alignment, if you moved the lock cylinder an extra 3/8 of an inch, half the options like the A/C, wipers, all turned on. It's a heluva lot cheaper than tranny problems. Hopefully you're right.

I cleared the codes yesterday afternoon. I drove about 10 miles yesterday-this morning combined with no ill effects. I have yet to verify the wiring underneath.

Hopefully I will get a chance to do so later this afternoon.

Where is that located on a 2003 Suburban LT shift solenoids

the shift solenoids are located within the transmission, once the pan, filter and fluid are removed the solenoids are located at the rear of the valve body assembly... (4L60E)

Looking for some help here 1997 Chevy k1500. I recently was replacing the pitman arm (along with the idler arm/bracket, outter/inner tie rods on both tires). When I was replacing the pitman, I may or may not have caused a small leak from the gearbox (it had 290k miles so I was fine replacing it).

Now I have replaced the Gearbox too and I am getting error code P0748. I am concerned I did something wrong in the assembly and now its affecting the transmission.

Can anyone provide any direction? My head is in the clouds.
