Default 2006 4.2 (error codes p0463 & p0116)

Last night my wifes trailblazer (2006 4.2eng) wouldn't start. On the way to my parents house she was on empty, but the yellow light never came on. We had decided to fill up after we left my parents house. When we decided to leave, I attempted to use our auto start (viper alarm auto start option), but it kept trying to start and turn off, then start like 10 times. I finally hit the auto start button to turn it off on the remote and manually start the trailblazer. It would not start at all. I then got up under the car and decided to check for leaks or knock on the gas tank and it sounded Bone dry!!

I went and got 2 gallons of gas, the car started up fine. Still no light came on, but it was low. We then took it over to fill it all the way up and then the gas meter started to go up as we filled it up. After the tank was full, it registered empty and then the yellow light came on. After driving it 7 miles to get it back home, the check engine light came on as well.

I now have the following codes:

1. P0116 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit, Range/performance (wondering if this popped since it tried to start soooo many times and couldn't???)
2. P0463 - Fuel Level Sensor Circuit high input

After reading on here, sounds like it could be my sending unit. I've read a bunch on how to drop the tank, but does anyone know how much the dealer usually charges for something like this? I would like to do it myself, but if it's a ton of money $400+, then I might do it.

Could the first code be related to the fuel level sensor code? I'm wondering if my wifes car had that first code in there for a while now. I tried to erase the codes, but coudn't (I was using a diablo predator to check codes).

Thanks for any help.

Ive heard that to change the fuel pump/level sender... is a $600 to $800 job depending on where you are...
I just changed my pump and made a how to with pics over on www.trailvoy.com
Thought I have an 03-mine has the smaller 18.7 gallon tank- yours has a 22 gal tank I think...
AND 03's have an external filter also- yours is internal..... so some connectiions may be different.

I guess I got lucky. My trailblazer is 5,000 miles out of warranty and the dealer is going to take care of it since I bought two vehicles from them in 2006. That made my day!

By the way, I was quoted $500 at achevy dealer closest to the house. However, that dealer didn'twant to give me a price on how much it would costto do the job. I demanded it because he told me it would be $105 to find out what the problem is either way. However, if I had themfix it,they would deduct the $105 off of the total cost of the job. Basically he was telling me it's going to be $500. I took my car and drove away at that point. If some dealer is telling you $1125, they are out of their F*#*#*# minds! Wow!

As for my tank, I thought I had the 22 gallon tank. But that night, I put two gallons in it (bone dry) to get it to the gas station. Then when I got to the gas station I put 22.5 gallons to fill the rest of it up.Odd, because my book said I had a 22 gallon tank! I don't have the bigger trailblazer either. Basic model...
