Hello all...1st post.

I was wondering if Chevy had a aux-port input somewhere on the Z71, 2002? I looked in the manual, but don't find a listing for it. What's going on is that I got my wife a Ipod touch and a Ipod cradle with a radio tuner. However, to listen to the Ipod on the stereo, the cradle comes with a cable that runs from the Ipod adapter/cradle and needs to be plugged into the aux-port input. The instructions for the Ipod cradle states that most cars/trucks have these in the following locations:

1. On the Dash- not found on my truck
2. In the glove box- not found on my truck
3. On or around the radio.

Does anyone know if this port might be on the backside of the stock stereo that came with the truck? Just asking before I go thru the headache of tearing the dashboard down and not finding it.

ANY info you guys/gals might have would glad be appriceated.

This is probably true for most vehicles that are 2-3 years old I'd say 2005 and up, its also a selling point, my 2007 Tahoe has said port on the front of the radio.
I don't know of a direct port on the 2002 but a quick search of the Ebay came up with this ( see link) so Im going to go with yes its possible but its not as simple as just plugging in your little woman's Ipod patch cord to a port on the radio without doing some type of adaptor.

Ther is definetly not a port on the back of you radio,howeverI just got one of the adapters in the above post for my wifes 2000 honda and it work great.All I had to do was plug it into the factary cd changer port in the back of the radio

Most newer vehicles will have it...'06 and up
Your 2002 will most defanately not have it. You have to add one using a module like the one posted above

We have an iPod touch for our 2002 [LT]. You could try a tape cassette adapter, that's what we use and it sounds great. I don't know if the Z71's replaced that part with something else, though. You just put the cassette tape in the slot in the car, which has a cord that plugs into the iPod. Except it came with our XM Radio kit we bought a few years ago. Another thing is check to see if her iPod kit has an FM transmitter, where it just sends the audio over-the-air to a blank FM channel you set.

I tried one of thoseFM transmitter things before the adapter, it cost just as much and was absoulte junk. It did not sound clear and was full static.

I haven’t used the FM transmitter but I have heard similar complaints about the poor sound quality, that and remember any transmitter is subject to FCC rules of being able to be over ridden by certain other signals.
Hardwired is almost always better/best for sound quality reproduction.

HArdwire is the best option, but if you want to use wireless....DO NOT buy a cheap unit. I think Monster has the best i-pod charger\fm modulator

I had good luck with a PIE Aux adapter from xmfanstore.com. They also have online support and should be able to help!
