Howdy, all.

I have a 2002 Suburban 1500 2wd LS 4-wheel disc brakes. 210,000miles

This is my 3rd suburban. My families 8th. We like suburbans....and have since 1942.

Recently failed Texas State inspection because the parking brake wont hold the vehicle.

The parking brake cable is at max adjust.

I've read the forums...the consumer complaints...the DIY sites...all that.

I understand the Parking Brake design is crap.

Now I need to know how to make it work. What exactly do I replace...and how.

Is it just the parking brake pads....the assembly...the left turn signal...the right rear headliner retaining clip????

Any insight would be helpful.

Welcome to the forum.

While I've not had the "pleasure" to adjust the parking brake on a GMT 800 or 900, the vehicles that I have worked on w/ rear discs don't adjust via the cable. They adjust at the caliper w/ a special spanner tool. Don't know if the 'burbs are the same.
