Default Sunroof issue

Well, I just noticed today that my sunroof doesn't always close all of the way by itself. It's a 2005 Yukon XL 2500. It will come all the way forward, but sometimes you have to push up on the rear of the glass to get it fully closed.
I can't find anything obviously wrong. Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks,
Chad

Might try lubing any points that slide or rotate.

They appear to all be "luby" right now.

So, I dug into it a little more, and made matters worse.
The sun screen that is supposed to slide back with the sun roof is now stuck inside the roof of the car! And the passenger sire "bow" thingy that appears to put tension on the sun screen is de-tached. The metal bar that is supposed to grab the screen and slide it forward when closing the sun roof is also ****-eyed.

Crap........

Now what?!?

At least the sun roof is shut and will keep our rain at bay!

On my wife's 04, the screen slides back w/ the sunroof but you have to pull it forward by hand after the glass is closed.

Same with mine (when it worked right). The screen was manually operated, but when you opened the glass, the screen would slide back further. Then it would reappear when you close the glass. Just enough that you could grab the notch to slide it by hand.

There's a metal blade shaped bar that goes across the top of the screen. It is not sitting correctly any more, and the bow shaped bars on the sides of the opening are not right either.

I have no idea what happened, but I know it has to get fixed.....

I would venture that the headliner needs to be dropped to gain proper access to the sunroof

So, is this a big chore? I have the DVD system as well as overhead lighting and HVAC.

Do we have a link or thread with pictures, diagrams, or good instructions? I'll just take it to the dealer and pay if it's a bad job for the average minded guy!

It will probably take a couple of hours as you will probably need to remove the pillar trim to get the headliner down and if you have side impact air bags they will need to be disabled. I wouldn't start it on a Sunday evening if you have to go to work the next day... Check with the dealer to get an estimate on time and cost, and you can figure on doubling the time it may take someone not as familiar with the process...

Thanks. I've been gone for the last few days, but I believe my wife has an appointment to get an estimate at the dealer in town. Hopefully it's not too extreme! And yes, it does have side air bags.
