Default Engine Hot, AC turned off. how 2 fix?

I own a chevy silverado 2008.
It says Engine Hot, AC turned off.

I replaced the temperature sensor, but it only fixed the issue for 3 days.
I've heard i now need to replace the Thermostat.

Will this make it work?
Summer is on the way, and i cannot roll into the summer without AC.

How many miles on the truck? I had a hot running engine right before my water pump took a crap.

what temperature sensor did you replace? There is a sensor for the gauge on the dash and another solely for the computer.
Now something to look at:
a fan relay, Dodge/Jeep trucks had this problem because they switched from mechanical fan driven by the water pump pulley to electric fan assembly and the fan would seize up. Check the fan. Fan relays, AC relays(high speed fan relay).
