Sorry to kinda bump an old thread, but is there a reason or something I would have to do to read the fixes? I have a Tahoe throwing a ****load of codes... C0226, C0245, C0246, C0251, C0252, C0265, C0281. My Modis has no "common" fix information stored in it.

Hi Guys, I am a new member and I just had a quick question about the DTC list posted by ZX1100F1. Specifically, I wanted to ask about the B0071 Passenger Seat Belt Tension Sensor Circuit: when is that DTC triggered? Would it, for instance, correspond to the Seatbelt warning light turning on, on the dash? For example, if my seat belt is unfastened, this DTC would be sent; if not, then it wouldn't?
Sometimes, the light just stays on even though the seat belt is fastened properly. One would almost feel it "hangs". Could this be detected by monitoring this DTC?
Any feedback you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Condition
Some customers may comment that the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) MIL is displayed on the Instrument Panel Cluster. This concern can be intermittent and could occur while adjusting the passenger seat.
Cause
When checking for DTCs, the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) will have a B0081 and the Passenger Presence System (PPS) a B0071. A possible source of this condition is the seat belt tension sensor circuits 5611, 5612, and/or 5613 being crushed in the seat riser assembly near the seat belt buckle. These circuits are in a smooth black conduit and at first may appear to be OK, but if the conduit is cut open to expose the wires, the damage can be seen.
Important:The area of concern is more easily seen if the seat is removed from the vehicle.
Correction
If there is damage to any of the wires of the seat harness then repair as necessary. If the damage is on the seat belt buckle pigtail, replace the buckle.
In order to prevent any future wiring issues involving the seat belt tension sensor circuits, the wiring should be rerouted as pictured below (refer to diagrams).

Important:The seat belt tension sensor circuit has been rerouted so as to run underneath the black conduit.
Once you have rerouted the circuit, tape around the plastic channel in order to hold the wiring in the channel. Refer to next diagram.

Condition
Some customers may comment on the airbag light being illuminated. Upon investigation, the technician may find DTC B0071 set in the Passenger Presence System (PPS) and a DTC B0081 in the Sensing and Diagnostics Module (SDM).
Correction


Do This

Diagnose and replace right front seatbelt buckle, if necessary.

Don't Do This

Do not replace the passenger presence system or the sensing and diagnostic module.
Verify proper system electrical connections. Inspect the passenger seat belt tension sensor signal, voltage reference, and low reference circuits carefully for cutting and/or chaffing per SI instructions for DTC B0071. If all checks have been made and no fault has been found, replace the belt tension sensor.
Important:The seat belt tension sensor is not serviced separately. The seat belt buckle with the tension sensor must be serviced as a complete unit.
