Screeching sound under the hood
My 01 silverado has been making a screeching sound under the hood lately. It does not do it all the time, but the warmer it is the more prone it is to do it. When it's warm enough to do it, it does it when it starts and then every once and awhile when I'm driving.. And also when it's warm enough outside it will squeal in 3rd gear and then when shifting to 4th it squeals again. Is it the belt? I'm not real engine savvy but I'm not clueless either, it's the 5.3l

sharing same engine and likely shared same squeals.
here's what I had done:
1. idler pulley
2. tensioner pulley
3. waterpump.
In that particular order.
Pop hood open and start the engine.
Cut a suitable length of garden hose and use it as stethoscope. Just be reasonably common sense cautious around moving parts.
#1 on the list is single bolt mount. Very easy to replace. #2 is same. #3 is about an hr labor DIY and $100 or so.
You have serpentine replaced, right? It's due at 100 000 miles. Tensioner has markings on it showing if it's stretched or not.
